Gone

Gone is an experimental short that delves into the relationship between loss and recovery in the absence of a once flourishing relationship. As someone who has always been curious to understand the post effects of the loss of a relationship with another, I wanted to use Gone as another outlet of this exploration. With the combination of some spoken word this video will use visual symbolism to represent obstacles and outcomes faced by the protagonist. The Okanagan winter acts as a juxtaposing factor to this concept. Acting as a parallel element, winter exudes this dry barren obstacle that is also faced by grieving Lauren. Lauren is doing her best to overcome the overwhelming hole that has been punched in her chest. In an attempt to overcome her sadness, after a trip to the park that she used to visit with her significant other, Lauren attempts to write a letter to relive and surmount her grief. Hours pass as Lauren pours herself into writing this conclusion in order to gain closure. When she is finally done, she forgets the letter and her sorrows.
